My mentor
I had the opportunity to speak to my mentor briefly on Friday. I was telling her about my blog. She told me something very startling. She stated that all though she has been my mentor for many years, she too viewed me as one of her mentors. Wow..... She stated that sometimes the mentee becomes the mentor depending on the situation. A true give and take relationship. Have you ever had a similiar experience? With this information, do you have a different view of mentoring?

In the words of Yoda, "The student becomes the teacher"..... doesn't that speak to the heart of what a circular relationship it is. Thanks for sharing and for the excellent site.
I am not surprised that she also sees you as a mentor, I am sure so many people see you in that role. I think it is so great that she shared that information with you, that is something to be very proud of. I think that knowing you are mentoring someone makes you a little more aware of how you are acting and what you are doing. Maybe it makes you a little better knowing that someone is watching and paying attention to your actions. (by you in these sentences I mean anyone in the mentor position not you specifically) Thanks for sharing this great site.

I agree with the thought that mentoring is a two-way lane. The mentor is passing on the baton, the mentee is sharing new perceptions to the mentor.A very interesting situation that we all can learn and benefit from.
I was actually a mentor for a friend of mine in undergraduate school. We graduated undergrad together and she went on and finished graduate school before I did. Now she is my role model!!!!
